Why is the hotel named "Sign"
"Sign" stands for signature and signum – the hotel was to be a clear imprint in the urban environment and represent modern Swedish architecture. The glass and granite facade is intentionally distinctive and contrasts with the older buildings around Norra Bantorget. There were also discussions about whether the hotel was too international in its expression and not "classic Stockholm" enough. But today the hotel has left its mark on the city of Stockholm.
